Since 1989,
ACI-PRENSA has been a member of the International Federation of Catholic
Agencies (FIAC).
One of the most
important aspects of ACI-PRENSA's work is its presence on the World
Wide Web. ACI PRENSA's website, ACI Digital (www.aciprensa.com)
is the most visited Catholic web page in Spanish.
ACI Digital provides
daily, free Catholic news, Apologetics, Catholic resources, a biographical
sketch of the day's saint, the daily readings with commentary, pro-life
information, general information about the Church's structure, a search
engine, and a complete directory of Catholic pages that are faithful
to the Magisterium in Spanish and Portuguese.
ACI-PRENSA
is the name of the Catholic Information Agency in Latin America, an
organization founded by Fr. Adalbert Marie Mohm (+1986) in Lima, Peru
in 1980.
ACI PRENSA has been
recognized by the Social Communications Department (DECOS) of the Latin
American Bishops' Council (CELAM), and the Vatican's Pontifical Council
for Social Communications.
ACI Digital also
delivers, by e-mail, a news service to more than 30,000 users, including
the most influential Catholic radio stations, magazines, and weekly
newspapers throughout Latin America, Spain and Latino communities in
the U.S., Canada, and Australia.
By september 2002,
our portal had been visited by some 12,000 unique visitors, a 45% boost
in overall hits.
At present, the Webstat company register that most of our users come
from the U.S. (40%), which means ACI Digital has become a significant
source of information and Catholic material for Spanish- speaking Catholics
throughout the U.S
